Since graduating from UBC with an MA in 1992, John's work-life experiences have taken in: publishing (briefly), professional marketing (a source of great technical interest), arts marketing (adding personal satisfaction), sanitation (smelly), conflict resolution ("where I finally learned to listen"), sports youth development and college-level teaching (both endlessly rewarding). In 2001, after moving to the North Shore, John began work with the District of North Vancouver in a variety of arts administration and economic development roles, and he is proud to have been associated with the growth and development of the local arts scene.
During his time at the District, John: helped to draft the District's first Master Plan for Public Art in 2001 and subsequently managed the growth of the program; contributed to the development and implementation of the North Vancouver Cultural Plan since 2002; and played a role in the recent establishment of a North Shore destination marketing partnership.
