Gary has been been playing the guitar for 40 years - twice as long as he has worked in Information Technology Services at the District of North Vancouver! As a musician, Gary uses his knowledge of computer technology to create, record and share songs. As a Systems Analyst, his musical skills and thought processes allow him to think creatively and see the bigger picture.

A goal for this City of North Vancouver Public Art project was to find a creative treatment for the MacKay Creek pedestrian overpass that was aesthetically pleasing, and that would also serve as a deterrent for unwanted graffitti. North Vancouver Squamish Nation artist Jody Broomfield rose to the challenge by applying a series of bright red salmon cut-outs to the sides of the bridge. Inspired by beautiful Coast Salish imagery, the salmon remind us of our responsibility to keep both our streams and our streets clean.

In preparation for the grand opening of the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art this fall, Lonsdale Avenue has been decked out with beautiful new banners inspired by the works of three of the Gallery's founding patrons and renowned Canadian artists; Jack Shadbolt, Gordon Smith and Bill Reid.
