Program description:
Canadian Heritage's Canada Music Fund (Support to Sector Associations Program) seeks to strengthen the Canadian sound recording industry from creator to audience. The Fund has three overarching public policy goals: to ensure that Canadian music artists and entrepreneurs have the skills, know-how, and tools to succeed in a global and digital environment; to enhance Canadians' access to a diverse range of Canadian music choices through existing and emerging media; and, to increase the opportunities available for Canadian music artists and cultural entrepreneurs to make a significant and lasting contribution to Canadian cultural expression.

Program description:
Canadian Heritage's Canada Magazine Fund (CMF) is a key element of the Government of Canada's comprehensive policy to support the Canadian magazine industry. The CMF was established to safeguard diverse Canadian voices in a rapidly evolving marketplace. It provides support to Canadian magazine publishers for the creation of Canadian content for Canadian readers, to initiatives that improve the viability and business development of smaller publishers, and to broader initiatives that support industry development.

Program: Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage (BCAH)

 

Program description:
The program, Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage (BCAH), will provide support to local arts and heritage festivals that feature local artists and artisans or local heritage, as well as major historical anniversaries of local importance. BCAH has two funding components: Component I: Local Arts and Heritage Festivals - funding in support of recurring festivals, events and activities that engage Canadians in their communities through the public presentation of local artists and/or of local heritage; and Component II: Community Historical Anniversaries Programming - funding in support of nonrecurring events and activities that engage Canadians in their communities through the commemoration of major anniversaries of significant local events and /or persons.

 

Program eligibility:
Local incorporated non-profit organizations; Or, Organizations/groups without legal incorporation; Or, Band Councils, Tribal Councils, and other Aboriginal (First Nation, Inuit, and Metis) governments and equivalent organizations. Applicants must demonstrate local support for their projects by providing written confirmation of support (financial or in-kind) from at least one level of government (municipal, Aboriginal, regional/district, provincial or territorial) and must include the value of that support in the project budget. Program: Arts Presentation Canada

 

Program description:
Canadian Heritage's Arts Presentation Canada gives Canadians more access to diverse, high-quality artistic expression. Professional arts festivals, presentations of live, professional performance seasons, and other artistic experiences by performing arts presenters provide this access. Arts Presentation Canada provides support through three components: Project Support, Programming Support, and Development Support

 

Program eligibility:
Canadian, non-profit organizations incorporated under Part II of the Canada Business Corporations Act (or under corresponding provincial or territorial legislation) that present artistic experiences by professional artists from more than one province or territory or that strengthen networking activities of Canadian performing arts presenters. Provincial/territorial and municipal institutions whose mandate includes the promotion and/or presentation of performing arts. Program: Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP)

 

Program description:
Canadian Heritage's Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP) ensures choice of and access to Canadian-authored books that reflect Canada's cultural diversity and linguistic duality, both in Canada and abroad. The Program seeks to achieve this objective by fostering a strong and viable Canadian book industry that publishes and promotes Canadian-authored books. The Program has four components: Aid to Publishers; Aid to Industry and Associations; Support for the Canadian Book Industry Supply Chain Initiative; and, International Marketing Assistance.

 

Program eligibility:
Canadian-owned and Canadian-controlled book publishers, who have been in business for at least 36 months. Canadian-owned and Canadian-controlled, associations, organizations, agencies, or firms representing one or more sectors of the book trade.

Organization: Hamber Foundation, The

 

Program description:
The Foundation makes grants for cultural, educational and charitable purposes within the Province of British Columbia. The Foundation prefers to support specific projects rather than contributing to general sustaining assistance or to large capital projects.

 

Program eligibility:
Grants are awarded only to institutions and organizations registered as educational or charitable under the Canadian Income Tax Act and which are in possession of a registration number in good standing at the date of application. Evidence of registration must accompany the application. Applications are judged and given precedence on their merits. Program: Arts Achievement Award

 

Program description:
The Arts Achievement Award recognizes a Canadian organization for sustained, substantial and extraordinary contribution to the Canadian arts scene. The $75,000 award recipient will be selected through a nomination and selection process, with the final decision resting with the Foundation Board.

Program description:
The Foundation is a private family foundation that funds initiatives of national significance which address challenges for Canadian society by engaging people, by building resilient communities, and by developing a strong knowledge base for the work that we support.

 

Program eligibility:
Under the Income Tax Act, the Foundation may make grants only to qualified donees for the most part this means federally registered charities. Program description:
The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation encourages and supports the cultural community throughout British Columbia and has, over 48 years, given in excess of $8 million to the people and communities of British Columbia.

 

Program eligibility:
Eligible disciplines include the visual and performing arts, heritage organizations, festivals, community arts councils and libraries, particularly in smaller centres. These grants provide assistance for both new and established groups who are undertaking innovative projects. To be eligible, all of the following criteria must apply: your organization is registered in Ottawa as charitable or educational, and your registration number is in good standing; your project or program will occur in British Columbia; your project or program is innovative or creative; your project or program requires special assistance to be achieved; and, your project or program begins no earlier than ninety days after the application deadline.

Organization: McLean Foundation, The

Program description:
The Directors receive submissions from a large number of organizations, and the available income permits them to assist only a portion of these. They endeavour to maintain a flexible policy, with particular emphasis on projects showing promise of general social benefit but which may initially lack broad public appeal.

 

Program eligibility:
Grants made by the Foundation are restricted to organizations which are recognized by Revenue Canada as “charitable organizations” and which are able to provide a registration number. Grants are not made to individuals.

Program description:
The idea of the program is to create partnerships and bring in sponsors who can help to enhance our members' careers. Unfortunately, there is only a very small amount of cash available, most programs being donated services, therefore the financial offerings that are being made should only be considered a helping hand. Also the programs are not ongoing but of a limited duration so we encourage members to apply right away when a program is announced.

Organization: Vancouver Foundation

 

Program description:
Vancouver Foundation supports a wide range of projects that are of benefit to British Columbians. Funded activities often provide a direct service to the community, or take an innovative approach to a community concern. Vancouver Foundation is responsive to changing community issues and priorities. Each of the above-mentioned Advisory Committees has developed goals reflecting its specific funding interests. The Foundation will consider requests for: Program related projects (i.e. specific, time-limited activity or series of activities designed to meet certain goals) Capital projects (i.e. construction, renovation or equipment purchases)

 

Program eligibility:
Eligible applicants include registered charities and qualified donees under the Income Tax Act. They must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and effective management. Grants are not made to individuals or to businesses. Under exceptional circumstances, the Foundation may consider organizations that are not yet registered charities.
