May 2014 - This summer, the City of North Vancouver will be commencing a streetscape renovation, and transit and pedestrian facilities upgrade project on Lonsdale Avenue between Esplanade and Third Street. This is a call for Expressions of Interest from the City of North Vancouver Public Art Program, seeking an artist or artist team to integrate site specific public art on the Lonsdale Avenue median. The deadline for submissions is 4pm, Friday June 13, 2014.
Drawing on the themes of movement, making connections, travel, time, schedules and our region’s climate, the public art installation should speak to the transit users’ and pedestrian’s daily experience. Specifically, the installation should be positive and encouraging with a certain sense of whimsy and humour as well with durability of the material and practicality in its maintenance and daily use by the public.
